Kluang: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has earmarked RM200 million to support the Non-Muslim Houses of Worship (RIBI) Maintenance Initiative across Malaysia over four years, commencing in 2023. This announcement was made by Minister Nga Kor Ming, who emphasized the government's commitment to fairness across all societal levels.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative will cover maintenance work on churches, gurdwaras, Hindu temples, and other religious associations. So far, the initiative has received 1,478 applications through the e-RIBI System, with a total value exceeding RM279 million, highlighting the community's need for maintenance and improvement of religious facilities.
Minister Nga stressed the importance of unity and inclusivity in national rebuilding efforts. "With the spirit of no one left behind, no one marginalised, we want to ensure that in our efforts to rebuild our country, we as a family are caring, respectful, and loving towards each other," he stated. He further emphasized the need for unity to maintain national stability, attract investment, and create job opportunities.
Speaking at a press conference during the Johor State RIBI Maintenance Initiative Allocation Handover Ceremony at the Che Luan Khor Morality Uplifting Society in Kluang, Nga announced an additional RM3.14 million allocation for 27 RIBIs in Johor this year. This funding aims to ensure the comfort and safety of these institutions through renovations, maintenance, new constructions, and emergency repairs.
Nga highlighted that the MADANI government prioritizes equitable development across all communities, focusing on national unity. He assured that KPKT would monitor each approved project to ensure transparency and efficient use of government funds.
Additionally, Nga revealed that Johor has received a total allocation of RM18.75 million from 2023 until May 2026, benefiting 154 RIBIs directly.
