Kuala Lumpur:A total of RM2.24 million has been allocated for the transformation of the Wangsa Sari People's Housing Project (PPR) in Wangsa Maju through maintenance and facility enhancements.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) announced that the project aims to improve safety, comfort, and quality of life for the 1,061 residents. This includes constructing a new bridge across the Sungai Bonus reserve, valued at RM200,000, to provide safer access for the local community.
The information was shared during a visit by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh, alongside Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud. They reviewed the DBKL Public Housing Maintenance Programme and discussed proposals for enhancing community facilities in the area.
Of the RM2.24 million allocation, RM1.10 million is designated for building painting, RM904,000 for replacing Sub-Main Cables and Main Switch Boards, RM136,000 for road paving, and RM101,000 for enhancing the fire safety system. The entire allocation focuses on improving the building's physical condition, enhancing safety, and ensuring better basic facilities and environment for the residents.
DBKL is also constructing an 18-metre-long bridge with a two-metre-wide path over the Sungai Bonus reserve, costing approximately RM200,000. Scheduled from October to December 2026, the bridge is expected to offer a safer and easier route for residents, particularly for accessing Padang Wangsa Sari, and reduce safety risks on Jalan 2/27A.
Additionally, the new facility is anticipated to promote the use of recreational areas, leisure activities, and social interactions within the local community.
DBKL's efforts reflect its commitment to ensuring public housing provides not only a place to live but also a safe, comfortable environment supporting community well-being. These projects aim to directly impact the lives of city residents, aligning with the aspiration to make Kuala Lumpur a city for all.
The Wangsa Sari PPR, established in 2008, is a 21-story block with 272 residential units, 173 of which are for sale and 99 for rent.
