Businessmen Face Trial for Alleged Cheating Over DFQ1 Registration Offer

Kuala Lampur:Two businessmen appeared at the Sessions Court to face charges of cheating a contractor out of RM153,000 related to the vehicle registration number DFQ1.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ee Tuck Lian, 38, and Wong Yoon Yee, 37, pleaded not guilty to three charges of deceiving Andrew Lim Jian Wei, 32. They allegedly led Lim to believe they were offering the registration number, prompting him to make three financial transactions into various accounts at a bank on Jalan Telawi 3 between May 26 and June 17.

The charges fall under Section 420 of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 34, which could result in imprisonment from one to ten years, whipping, and a fine upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Raihanah Abd Razak proposed a bail of RM50,000 for all charges with one surety per accused. However, both businessmen requested lower bail, citing family responsibilities and their cooperation during the investigation.

The court granted their request, setting bail at RM10,000 each with one surety, and scheduled the next mention for November 27.
