Sungai petani: A RM10 million sports complex is set to be constructed in Bandar Puteri Jaya to enhance sports facilities for local youth. Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari announced that the project is currently in the preliminary stages and is expected to begin soon.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative is a part of Dr Taufiq's efforts since becoming the Member of Parliament for Sungai Petani. The complex will be located near the Kuala Muda District Information Office, with an initial allocation of RM10 million already approved. Dr Taufiq mentioned that any changes in planning or implementation would be communicated to the public.
Dr Taufiq emphasized that the new sports complex would support the development of young athletes. The procurement process and associated activities are ongoing, with regular monitoring by the Public Works Department and other stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
Dr Taufiq also reassured his commitment to the Sungai Petani constituency, balancing his duties with his federal ministerial responsibilities. He plans to visit the area on weekends, barring official commitments in Putrajaya. The ministry aims to focus on youth development, future leadership, and promoting sports as a unifying force across diverse communities.
