Kuala Lumpur: Individuals and organisations are urged to carefully review any content featuring national symbols, whether physical or digital, before publishing or broadcasting it. National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang emphasized the importance of this vigilance to uphold the nation’s dignity and instil a sense of respect and patriotism among Malaysians.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang reminded all parties, including government bodies, private sector entities, media, and individuals, to be sensitive and responsible in their use of the Jalur Gemilang and any other symbols representing the country’s sovereignty. He highlighted the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) across various fields, including design and digital content distribution, urging that technological advancement should not be an excuse for negligence or errors in the use of national symbols.
He emphasized that national symbols, such as the Jalur Gemilang, are not merely emblems but represent the identity, sovereignty, and spirit of unity of the Malaysian people. Earlier, the Ministry of Education announced that it is conducting a detailed investigation into the incorrect display of the Jalur Gemilang in the 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Results Analysis Report. Several AI-generated images on pages 14 and 15 of the report depicted the national flag inaccurately.
