Retired Teacher Loses Over RM60,000 To Harumanis Purchase Scam

Kuala Terengganu: A retired teacher lost RM67,573.63 after falling victim to a syndicate involved in a non-existent online purchase scheme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor revealed that the 61-year-old woman from Wakaf Tengah was deceived after seeing an advertisement on Facebook on May 20, which claimed to sell Harumanis mangoes. She contacted the suspect and was given a purchase code for verification.

Azli stated that by 10 am the following day, the victim discovered that her entire bank savings had disappeared. Upon further inspection, she realized that multiple transactions had been made, transferring money from her account to an unknown account.

The victim subsequently filed a police report at 11.27 am yesterday. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which deals with cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.
