Kuala lumpur: National track cycling star Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang believes that any issues involving national cycling team head coach John Beasley should be resolved through amicable discussions without affecting athletes' preparations for major sporting events. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Azizulhasni said that if there are parties who feel the time has come for a change in the coaching leadership, the matter can be discussed professionally without creating a prolonged controversy. He emphasized that if there is a consensus that Beasley should be replaced, it should be handled in a respectful manner. "If it is true that all of you do not like him and feel it is time for him to be replaced, that is actually not a problem. Call for a proper discussion and part ways amicably," he stated in a social media post today. Mohd Azizulhasni stressed the importance of ensuring that ongoing discussions do not distract athletes currently preparing for the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. He recalled Be asley's advice to him in the past to steer clear of controversies and maintain focus on athletic preparations for upcoming competitions. Highlighting Beasley's contributions, Mohd Azizulhasni described him as a coach with a distinguished reputation in cycling, known not only for his coaching skills but also for his willingness to assist many throughout his tenure with the national squad. He suggested that if Beasley's services were no longer needed, the transition should be conducted respectfully, acknowledging his contributions to Malaysian cycling. Expressing disappointment, Mohd Azizulhasni noted the lack of visible support for Beasley during this challenging period. "I am also somewhat disappointed that not many have come forward to show solidarity with Beasley during what is a very difficult time for him," he remarked, suggesting that sincere solidarity would suffice. Previously, media reports indicated that Beasley is expected to leave his position earlier than planned at the end of this year, despit e his contract expiring only on January 31 next year, due to mounting frustration over several internal issues within Malaysian cycling.
