Repatriation Of Palestinians: Mindef Still In Discussion With Egypt – Adly

Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari today announced that a final decision has yet to be reached regarding the repatriation of 127 Palestinians, including 41 injured individuals who had been brought to Malaysia for medical treatment.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Defence Ministry is collaborating with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) through the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department to manage accommodations for these Palestinians. Adly emphasized the ongoing coordination with Egyptian authorities to facilitate their return, particularly to Gaza. He noted that the initial diplomatic arrangements when they arrived involved Egypt, and thus their cooperation is essential for the repatriation process.

Adly assured that the welfare of the Palestinians, who have been in Malaysia since August 16 of last year, will continue to be supported. He expressed hope that the current ceasefire in Palestine would aid in the efforts to return them home.

In other news, Adly highlighted the launch of a pilot project for the Affin Digital Space Digitalisation Programme during the Digitalisation of School Camp event at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kementah. The pilot involves three school camps-SK TUDM Subang, SK Sultan Sir Ibrahim, Kluang, and SK Kementah-equipped with digital laboratory tools expected to be completed by October. Affin Bank fully sponsored the digital equipment, valued at RM94,000, which includes smart TVs, laptops, video recorders, smartphones, multimedia applications, and support systems.

Adly mentioned that currently, only three schools are equipped with digital education tools, indicating a determination to bridge the digital education gap starting from primary school levels.
