Kuala Lumpur: The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) donated RM1.85 million to 14 hospitals and medical centres to assist underprivileged patients.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the donation was presented by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, during the Rahmah MADANI Ramadan MAIWP: Donation Ceremony for Medical Centres and Hospitals 2025 at the Tunku Azizah Hospital here today.
Mohd Na’im stated that the donation from MAIWP to hospital welfare funds aids underprivileged patients by easing their burden of medical bills, medication costs, and other expenses. He emphasized that this assistance also demonstrates MAIWP’s support for frontline workers, acknowledging their dedication and contributions, irrespective of the time or circumstances.
He further detailed that among the donation beneficiaries were Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), which received RM300,000, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (RM200,000), Tunku Azizah Hospital (RM100,000), and Labuan Hospital (RM50,000).
Additionally, Mohd Na’im announced that MAIWP had approved an allocation of RM290,000 for a coaster bus to HKL, aiding patients and their families in accessing treatment at the hospital. Moreover, MAIWP is collaborating with the Persatuan Kebajikan Bakti Kasih Malaysia (PKBKM) to provide iftar (breaking fast) meals for frontline workers, including those at the Tunku Azizah Hospital and other facilities.
He concluded by stating that this assistance will benefit 10,000 frontline workers with a total contribution of RM200,000.
