Kuala lumpur: The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) will continue strengthening the governance of religious institutions based on integrity, accountability and public well-being, in line with Sultan Nazrin Shah's call for Muslim countries to embrace good governance and inclusive development guided by the principle of "Everyone Matters".

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan emphasized that the principle aligns with Islamic aspirations and the objectives of Maqasid Syariah and the concept of karamah insaniah (human dignity). He stated that Sultan Nazrin's call for strengthening governance and pursuing inclusive development is consistent with the Islamic goals of social justice and the protection of people's welfare.

In his royal address at the 8th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilisation (WCIT), Sultan Nazrin highlighted the importance of a public service that serves every citizen, irrespective of race, religion, or political beliefs. He emphasized that this approach reflects national unity and humble leadership that listens to the people before enacting laws. Moreover, he noted that development must be pursued collaboratively, as no nation can thrive in isolation due to the interconnected nature of trade, investment, and knowledge exchange.

Reflecting on Sultan Nazrin's call, Dr Zulkifli stated that good governance is essential for prosperity. He assured that his department is dedicated to ensuring that institutional management and public budgeting are guided by principles of integrity, itqan (excellence in work), and accountability. Authority, he mentioned, is a trust that must be exercised with humility and responsibility, emphasizing the importance of managing public funds to prioritize the well-being of the ummah.

Dr Zulkifli also urged religious agencies and Muslims to adopt a courteous work culture, enhance social unity, and promote collaboration and the exchange of beneficial knowledge.
