Rapid KL On-Demand Expands to Seven New Zones to Meet Passenger Demand

Kuala Lumpur: Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd is set to expand its Rapid KL On-Demand service to include seven additional operational zones starting this Thursday, March 27, in response to increasing passenger demand.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the newly added zones are Kampung Ampang Indah – Taman Sri Watan; Ampang Hilir – Kampung Datuk Keramat; LRT Ampang – Ampang Jaya. Each of these zones will be serviced by four vans. Additionally, two vans each will serve the zones of MRT Putrajaya Sentral – Precincts 14 and 16; Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC); MRT Putrajaya Sentral – Cybersouth Dengkil; and Desa Pinggiran Putra – Desa Gemilang Putrajaya.

The statement from Rapid Bus highlighted that these operational zones are strategically planned to align with train services and the Jalan Ampang bus lane. Previously, only the Jalan Genting Kelang and Jalan Klang Lama bus lanes offered access to the service. The expansion allows all bus lane users to continue their journey seamlessly using the Rapid KL On-Demand service. Users in Putrajaya also gain more route choices via the KUMMUTE application, connecting them to areas typically lacking public transport services.

Rapid KL On-Demand is also enhancing services in the seven zones launched on March 10 by adding an extra van per zone to cope with growing demand. These zones include Taman Melati – Gombak Setia; Bukit Antarabangsa – Setiawangsa; Bangi – UNITEN; Wangsa Maju – Sri Rampai; Titiwangsa – Chow Kit; Bandar Kinrara – Jalan Puchong; and Taman OUG – Kuchai Lama.

Ku Jamil Zakaria, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd, expressed that due to positive user feedback, more vans will be deployed to ensure convenience and accessibility for more people to experience Rapid KL On-Demand.

Since its expansion to 17 new zones on February 1, the service recorded a peak daily ridership of 4,732 users on March 18. With the upcoming launch of new zones, Rapid KL On-Demand will operate 93 vans across 33 zones in the Klang Valley.

The service offers guaranteed seating, bookable via the Mobi, Trek Rides, or Kummute apps from 6 am to 11.30 pm. A promotional fare of RM1 per journey continues for users. Payments can be made using various cards, including the Touch ‘n Go Card, MyRapid Concession Card, OKU Smile Travel Pass, and Unlimited Travel Pass options.
