Kangar: Consistent remembrance of Allah (zikr) plays a vital role in shaping good character and attaining inner peace, the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail said.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, His Royal Highness emphasized that zikr, the remembrance of Allah through the heart, tongue, and acts of worship, reflects a servant's devotion and reliance on Allah SWT. He stated, "Those who constantly remember Allah will attain tranquillity and lead a more orderly life. Without zikrullah, a person may lose direction, and even worldly gains will not bring true satisfaction." These remarks were made during the closing of the 11th Perkampungan Sunnah programme at Alwi Mosque.
The event saw the presence of the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin also urged Muslims to focus on authentic forms of zikr taught by Prophet Muhammad SAW, highlighting their significance as the best and most complete guidance.
He expressed concern over the preference for inauthentic forms of zikr, stating it as a loss when individuals claim to love the Prophet SAW and his Sunnah but do not adhere to its authentic practices. To promote the practice of zikr, various initiatives have been undertaken, including the publication of guidebooks by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPS) through the Perlis Mufti Department.
The Perlis Zikr Campaign, launched in 2021, continues to raise awareness on the importance of zikr in accordance with the Sunnah. The three-day Perkampungan Sunnah, themed 'Zikrullah: Reviving the Sunnah, Attaining Its Virtues', began last Friday and gathered over 40 scholars from within and outside the country. The event attracted approximately 4,000 participants through lectures, forums, and a special women's halaqah (Islamic study circle).
