Bukit bintang: The International Workers' Day celebration with the Rain Rave Water Music Festival, scheduled from April 30 to May 2, is being held in a well-organized manner with strict monitoring protocols in place.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event, which is an annual tourism attraction, aligns with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (TMM2026) campaign. The initiative aims to boost Kuala Lumpur's economy, enhance the tourism industry, and support small and medium-sized enterprises. Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing emphasized the event's medium-scale organization, designed to foster positive, healthy, and inclusive interactions among local and international participants, especially during Labour Day celebrations.
Tiong condemned misleading social media posts that had attempted to distort the festival's nature and objectives. He urged the public to base their opinions on facts rather than incitement or manipulation that could disrupt social harmony. Drawing comparisons to Thailand's successful Songkran festival, Tiong highlighted the economic benefits such events bring, including increased tourist arrivals and economic activities.
The minister addressed concerns over attire, denying claims that participants were required to wear flashy clothing. He assured that the festival is conducted in line with community values and Malaysia's legal framework. Tiong stressed the importance of balancing economic development with social responsibility in Malaysia's diverse society, steering clear of unproductive conflicts.
He reiterated that the tourism sector is crucial in the uncertain global economic climate, playing a vital role in stimulating expenditure, supporting livelihoods, and enhancing industry resilience.
