Queen Urges Malaysians to Remember Those in Need During Aidilfitri

Johor Bahru: Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, has urged the public to remember those facing hardships during the Aidilfitri celebrations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Her Majesty emphasized the importance of not forgetting individuals who lack essential resources during this festive period. “Many of us are very fortunate to be able to celebrate Aidilfitri with joy and happiness, but let us not forget those who do not have enough food and drink,” she stated. The Queen shared her thoughts via a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration held with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) international students at the Johor Bahru campus.

Her Majesty highlighted the role of social media in raising awareness about global conflicts and suffering. She urged Malaysians to be mindful of these issues and extend kindness and support to those in need. Additionally, Her Majesty encouraged the community to warmly welcome international students, integrating them into the UTM family.

Reflecting on her own experiences studying abroad, the Queen acknowledged the challenges of loneliness and isolation faced by international students. “As someone who once studied abroad, I truly understand the feelings of loneliness and isolation that come with being far from one’s family. Today’s event is part of my effort to celebrate and share the joy of Aidilfitri with them,” she expressed.

The event was graced by the presence of Che Puan Mahkota Khaleeda of Johor, who is also UTM Pro-Chancellor, and Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim. It hosted 120 international students from different countries at the Banquet Hall of UTM’s Sultan Ibrahim Chancellery Building.
