Kuala trong: The bodies of two fishermen whose boat capsized off Pulau Pasir Hitam, Kuala Trong, near Bukit Gantang, on Wednesday were found yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) zone director Commander Mohd Hairil Othman stated that the bodies were discovered by a local fishing vessel around 5 pm. The incident reportedly happened when the fishing boat experienced engine failure and encountered challenging weather conditions while the fishermen were retrieving their nets.
The identities of the victims were confirmed by their employers, and their bodies were subsequently handed over to the police for further action. Commander Mohd Hairil emphasized the importance of safety at sea, urging fishermen to ensure their boats are seaworthy, wear life jackets, carry functional communication devices, and check weather forecasts before setting out.
