Kuala Lumpur: The One-Stop Social Support Centre (PSSS) offers a vital platform for community members, particularly vulnerable groups, to seek assistance without the fear of stigma, according to Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri. The Women, Family and Community Development Minister highlighted that PSSS enables individuals facing distress to share their problems and concerns with professional, registered counsellors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nancy Shukri stressed the importance of the PSSS initiative during the Jelajah Kasih PSSS and Back to School 2025 programme. She noted that mental health issues are prevalent not only among adults but also affect children and teenagers, often due to family problems, academic pressures, or environmental factors. The PSSS provides a safe space for those experiencing stress and uncertainty to seek help.
PSSS, a programme under the National Welfare Foundation (YKN), offers comprehensive psychosocial services, including guidance and counselling sessions aimed at providing immediate relief to targeted groups. The service is available both as a mobile unit and at physical locations, ensuring accessibility for those in need.
Nancy Shukri also emphasized the significance of YKN’s role in supporting government initiatives like PSSS, calling for collaboration from various stakeholders. She highlighted the potential for private corporations and other organizations to complement YKN’s efforts in enhancing social support services. As an incentive, YKN offers tax exemption receipts for contributions received from donors, presenting an opportunity for corporate entities to contribute to the community’s well-being.
