Kota Bharu: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Kelantan seized 325 litres of petrol valued at nearly RM10,000 from an illegal base in Kampung Simpangan near Tumpat during a border operation last night.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan KPDN director Azman Ismail stated that the Integrated Ops, conducted around 11.30 pm with the collaboration of the Region Three Marine Police from Pengkalan Kubor, also resulted in the seizure of two vehicles, a Proton Iswara and a Proton Wira.
He explained that the team had initially observed the suspicious movement of the two vehicles, which led them to carry out a raid on the illegal base.
Azman further noted that upon investigation, several jerry cans were found stored in the vehicles, suspected to be intended for smuggling fuel.
The case is currently under investigation under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
