Kuala lumpur: The involvement of the private sector, through creative initiatives, is seen as crucial in supporting the success of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign and strengthening the country’s position as a world-class tourism destination. Tourism Malaysia director-general Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim emphasized that private sector support complements government efforts to expand Malaysia’s tourism promotion internationally.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Amirul Rizal stated that commitments from the private sector are important for driving the national agenda collectively, alongside the government. This partnership is expected to boost the national economy and benefit local communities. His remarks were made after attending the launch of the VM2026 special edition gold coin by SMS DEEN Jewellers, an event officiated by Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Manoharan Periasamy.
Mohd Amirul Rizal encouraged more private companies to support the VM2026 campaign through creative and innovative initiatives that showcase Malaysia’s identity and uniqueness. Meanwhile, SMS DEEN Jewellers chief executive officer Mohamad Shaifudeen highlighted the private sector’s role in promoting Malaysia globally, noting that the special edition gold coin’s design incorporates storytelling elements that emphasize Malaysia’s cultural heritage, cuisine, arts, infrastructure, and biodiversity.
The special edition gold coin, made of pure 999.9 (24-carat) gold and weighing 0.2 grammes, is offered in a limited edition. The VM2026 campaign aims to catalyze growth in the country’s tourism sector and economy, involving various stakeholders, including government agencies, industry players, and local communities.
