Prisons Department Facilitates Family Visits for Aidiladha Festivities

Kuala lumpur: Families of inmates at various prison institutions, including Moral Rehabilitation Centres, Special Rehabilitation Centres, Special Detention Facilities, and Henry Gurney Schools, are permitted to visit during the Aidiladha celebration on May 29 and 30. The Prisons Department announced that visiting hours are scheduled from 8.15 am to 4.15 pm, with priority given to Muslim inmates.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, visitors are not allowed to bring food and drinks for inmates; however, these can be purchased at the prison canteen. Additionally, while visitors are discouraged from giving money to inmates, they can make payments for specific matters like examination fees by obtaining an official PPT 28 receipt from the prison authorities.

The statement also mentioned that visitors must adhere to the Prison Act and Prison Regulations, allowing prison authorities to conduct physical inspections upon entry and exit. For families who are unable to visit in person, online meetings will be available from May 30 to June 1. Families seeking further information are advised to contact the relevant institutions.
