Kuala Lumpur:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the importance of safeguarding government funds and warned that strict actions would be taken against those who breached the trust placed in them. As Finance Minister, Anwar highlighted the responsibilities of agencies such as TEKUN Nasional, Bank Rakyat, and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) to ensure the proper distribution of funds to intended beneficiaries.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar spoke at the closing ceremony of the 2026 National Hawkers and Small Traders Day (HPPK) Carnival, urging agencies to manage the funds properly. He stressed that any breach of trust would lead to arrests and charges as part of efforts to safeguard the country.
Addressing the country's fiscal capacity, Anwar praised the MADANI Government's governance, which has allowed for increased allocations such as RM16 billion for welfare initiatives and RM18 billion for civil servants' salary adjustments. He attributed this financial capability to the absence of leakage, misappropriation, and corruption, emphasizing the government's commitment to assisting the people.
Anwar also tackled allegations of discrimination, asserting the government's dedication to addressing issues nationwide, including in opposition-governed states like Kelantan. He highlighted the reinstatement of special assistance for religious teachers and repairs to dilapidated school buildings, underscoring a fair system for all citizens.
The Prime Minister called on all parties to uphold values of decency, morality, and integrity, rejecting abuses of power and corruption for the country's prosperity.
