Kuala Lumpur: Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit is a symbolic representation of the strong, long-standing bond of friendship between Malaysia and China, and this closeness continues to be strong and strengthened by trust, respect, and honesty.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that in the current challenging world climate, China has proven to be a rational, stable, and principled ally. Malaysia values this stability and aims to maintain a friendship that is historically grounded and forward-looking.
Prime Minister Anwar highlighted that while the world experiences a shifting geopolitical landscape and some nations veer away from collective responsibility, China’s global initiatives are paving the way for reform and cooperation. He expressed his respect for President Xi’s leadership in promoting shared prosperity and universal values.
Anwar contrasted Xi’s principles with those of other countries that have shifted their focus toward hostility and economic weaponization. This sentiment was shared in a Facebook post, where he praised Xi’s stance on shared responsibility.
In another post, Anwar shared his hopes for the Malaysia-China friendship to flourish in the future, using the Malay proverb “bagai aur dengan tebing,” symbolizing mutual support and strength. He expressed optimism for continued sincere and respectful relations, thanking Xi for the historic visit.
President Xi’s three-day state visit to Malaysia began on Tuesday, following an invitation from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. This visit marks Xi’s second official trip to Malaysia in 12 years, following his 2013 visit, which elevated the two nations’ relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Chinese president and his delegation have since departed for Cambodia.
