Kuala Lumpur: The pre-launch ceremony for the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2025 celebration is scheduled to take place on June 3, as announced by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. The event will also feature the unveiling of the theme and logo for this year’s celebration, which aims to honor media practitioners across the nation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the HAWANA 2025 celebration will coincide with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, involving media organizations from various Southeast Asian countries. The initiative is expected to foster stronger ties and networks between media organizations in Malaysia and other ASEAN countries. Fahmi emphasized the significance of information and news sharing from ASEAN neighbors in building a cohesive ASEAN community.

The announcement was made following Fahmi’s attendance at the Northern Zone Safe Internet Campaign Tour. Notable attendees included Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, MCMC commission member Gen (Rtd) Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, and Bernama CEO Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin. Fahmi expressed hope that local media practitioners will utilize this year’s HAWANA celebration to enhance cooperation among ASEAN media organizations.

The HAWANA 2025 celebration is slated to be held in Kuala Lumpur in June.
