Kuala Lumpur: Populous, the world-renowned design firm, has announced the acquisition of Denver-based Fentress Architects, a global leader in iconic aviation projects and prominent public buildings, to broaden its scope and scale of services offered to global clients. This strategic acquisition unites two of the most respected names in architecture, combining Populous’ unparalleled expertise in designing memorable experiences with Fentress’ award-winning portfolio of aviation, civic and cultural landmarks.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Populous Global Chair and Chief Executive Officer, Bruce Miller, expressed the firm’s commitment to expanding the breadth of their practice. Fentress Architects has been recognized for its visionary aviation and public architecture, exceptional design quality, and commitment to innovation. Miller emphasized that incorporating Fentress’ expertise and client base will enhance Populous’ global aviation and transportation portfolio, and foster synergies across convention center design, ultimately transforming people-centric design and amplifying their global impact.
Meanwhile, Curt Fentress, Founder and Principal in Charge of Design at Fentress Architects, highlighted the shared values between the two firms, particularly in design excellence and people-centric thinking. He stated that the partnership would continue to redefine great architecture and its potential to drive social and economic change through inspired design.
Founded in 1980, Fentress Architects has been known for sustainable architecture, having designed over US$52 billion worth of architectural landmarks globally, including the Denver International Airport, Incheon International Airport, Miami Beach Convention Center, and the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Following the acquisition, Fentress Architects will rebrand as Fentress Studios, a Populous Company, with their studios remaining in Denver and Washington D.C. This move further boosts Populous’ capabilities in aviation, transportation, and public sector design.
Over the past four decades, Populous has designed more than 3,500 projects, offering comprehensive services that include architecture, interior design, event planning and overlay, branded environments, and wayfinding.
