Permatang Pauh:Police are searching for a motorcyclist suspected of hitting two schoolgirls as they crossed the road in front of a national primary school in Permatang Pauh.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Aminuddin Raja Abdullah stated that the incident was captured in a viral video lasting approximately 30 seconds. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred at about 7.20 am.

The schoolgirls, aged eight and nine, were on their way to school when they were struck by the motorcycle on the pedestrian crossing. They sustained minor injuries and have since received follow-up treatment. The police are working to identify the motorcyclist and to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The police are appealing to the public for any information that could aid the investigation, urging individuals to contact any nearby police station or the investigating officer, Insp Hafizi Mansor, at 017-566 0103.

A 32-second video went viral earlier, showing the two schoolgirls being hit by the motorcyclist, who then sped off without stopping.
