Police Hunt Man Suspected Of Assaulting Pregnant Wife At Karaoke Centre

Kota shahbandar: Police are tracking down a man suspected of assaulting his pregnant wife at a karaoke centre in Kota Shahbandar on Sunday. Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said officers were alerted at 1.17 am yesterday when the victim's mother reported her 20-year-old daughter missing.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the complainant discovered the back door of the house forcibly opened and checked CCTV footage at the karaoke centre, which showed the 22-year-old husband assaulting her daughter. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was rushed to Melaka Hospital by ambulance at 4.41 am after the incident and was treated in the red zone for soft tissue injuries to her head and right cheek resulting from the assault.

Dzulkhairi mentioned that the CCTV footage, which went viral, depicted the suspect hitting, slapping, pulling the victim's hair, and ramming her head with a motorcycle while she lay on the floor. He stated that the victim was taken home by her mother but is believed to have left with her two-year-old son and the suspect.

The complainant has been unable to contact the victim and is concerned for her and her child's safety. No arrests have been made so far, and the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994.
