Sungai buloh: Police are tracking down a prisoner who has gone missing from the Licensed Release of Prisoners (PBSL) Programme in the Desa Coalfields area in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said a report of the missing prisoner on parole, M. Devan, 39, was received at 11 pm yesterday. The prisoner was serving a 12-month prison sentence at the Kajang Prison for an offence under Section 379A of the Penal Code, related to motor vehicle theft, and is now suspected to have absconded from the supervision of the Wangsa Maju District Parole and Community Services Office in Kuala Lumpur.
“A search was conducted by the parole office, but the Licensed Free Person (OBB) could not be found,” Mohd Hafiz stated in a press release. He added that checks at police stations yielded no record of arrest or detention of the OBB, and inquiries at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital and Selayang Hospital also found no record of admission.
Mohd Hafiz further noted that Devan’s family confirmed the prisoner had not returned home. In light of this, the police are asking for public assistance. Those with any information are urged to contact Insp Ekmal Hasif Mohd Noor at 011-3539 6787 or the Saujana Utama police station at 03-6038 2222.
