Melaka: The Police Family Association (PERKEP) must persist in serving as a vital support network for Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the education of their children and the emotional well-being of their families.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail highlighted that PERKEP is more than just a welfare organization. It acts as a unifying bridge for members of the force, fostering a spirit of love, care, and solidarity. He emphasized the essential role that PERKEP's leadership plays in implementing welfare programs that alleviate the burdens faced by the families of police personnel, especially when officers are engaged in demanding duties.
Mohd Khalid noted that the success and resilience of officers are not achieved in isolation but are significantly bolstered by the unwavering support of their families. This support serves as the main source of strength for officers, enabling them to perform their duties with commitment and dedication. His remarks were made during the closing ceremony of the PERKEP Thanksgiving Feast and Family Day, which was part of the 2026 Wira MADANI Tour Programme held at the Melaka police contingent headquarters.
The event was attended by PERKEP chairman Puan Sri Munirah Che Rose, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid, and Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar. Mohd Khalid also remarked on the Wira MADANI Tour Programme, noting its basis on the Malaysia MADANI concept aimed at appreciating front-line personnel. The programme seeks to strengthen ties between government agencies and the community through welfare and community activities, fostering patriotism and enhancing public safety awareness.
The PERKEP Thanksgiving Feast and Family Day offered PDRM personnel and their families an opportunity to connect and strengthen their bonds. Mohd Khalid expressed a desire for the event to continue as a platform to strengthen ties between the PDRM leadership, PERKEP members, and the wider police family.
In her speech, Munirah emphasized PERKEP's commitment to advancing welfare, education, and family well-being initiatives. She stated that these efforts are crucial to ensuring the association remains a caring organization, responsive to the needs of its members. The programme also marked the launch of PERKEP's official mascot and flag, described as a significant milestone in the association's history. Additionally, PERKEP awarded RM1,000 cash prizes and certificates of appreciation to the winners of the mascot and flag design competitions.
