Bachok: Police have arrested a woman suspected of throwing a liquid believed to be acid on a spa owner in Beris Kubur Besar, Bachok, last Saturday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that the 38-year-old local suspect was detained to assist in investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code. The arrest was executed by the Special Investigation Division (D9) of the Kelantan contingent police headquarters, along with personnel from the Bachok district police headquarters (IPD), in an operation in front of a rubber factory in Kuala Krai at 4 pm yesterday.
The suspect, who works at a rubber factory and has no prior criminal record, was apprehended, and police seized a Perodua Myvi, a mobile phone, and a vehicle control device. A remand application against the woman is set to be submitted to the Bachok Magistrate’s Court to aid further investigation.
Mohd Yusoff emphasized that police would impose strict action against any individual responsible for causing serious injuries. He also urged the public not to speculate on the case and encouraged anyone with pertinent information to reach out to the Bachok IPD or the nearest police station.
The incident occurred last Saturday when a female trader was attacked near a convenience store in Beris Kubur Besar, Tawang, Bachok. The victim, who suffered severe burns on her shoulder, back, arms, and legs, is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM), Kubang Kerian.
