Police Crack Down on Illegal Street Racing, Issuing 209 Summonses and Detaining Four

Seremban: Police issued 209 summonses for various offences following 322 inspections involving vehicles and individuals during a six-hour integrated operation against motorcycle riders along Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1 here last night. Seremban district police chief ACP Mohd Yatim Osman said the operation, which started at 10 pm, was carried out in collaboration with several enforcement agencies and focused on locations suspected of being hotspots for illegal street racing.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the offences detected included modified exhaust systems, registration numbers that did not comply with specifications, absence of registration plates, missing side mirrors, riding without a valid driving licence, and insurance coverage. 'We also seized 19 motorcycles and arrested four men aged between 16 and 37 under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 45A(1) of the same Act for riding under the influence of alcohol,' he told reporters after the operation early this morning.

He said a motorcyclist also attempted to evade inspection, but was successfully apprehended for further action. Mohd Yatim said inspections also found that several individuals were believed to have attended as observers and supporters of groups suspected of being involved in illegal racing activities. 'We are not only inspecting the racers but also those who come to support and encourage them, as they indirectly provide a platform for the organisation of activities that violate the law,' he said.
