PNB and PHB Urged to Intensify Bumiputera Investment Literacy Efforts: PM Anwar

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasized the need for Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) and Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd (PHB) to intensify their efforts in enhancing investment literacy among the general public, with a particular focus on the Bumiputera community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar, who also serves as the finance minister, highlighted the importance of Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) in its ongoing commitment to empower Bumiputera entrepreneurs. This is to be achieved by providing access to financing and supporting the enhancement of business capacity and capabilities.

Anwar stressed that government-linked agencies and companies that are tasked with the Bumiputera development mandate should remain at the forefront of policy implementation. They play a critical role in executing government initiatives, especially through the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan (PuTERA35), which has already been launched.

Earlier in the day, Anwar led the board of trustees meeting of the Bumiputera Investment Foundation, assessing the current performance of the companies under the board’s purview. He also underscored the importance of strengthening the competitiveness of the domestic economy and ensuring sustainable returns for unit trust holders amid global economic uncertainties.
