PM’s National Day Address Moves To PICC

Putrajaya: The 2026 National Day Prime Minister's Address Ceremony scheduled to take place this Sunday (August 30) will be moved from Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur to the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), here following the current haze conditions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 Celebration Working Committee, Ministry of Communications, announced in a statement today that the decision was made as an adjustment measure considering current developments. The primary aim is to ensure the safety, health, and comfort of guests and the public, alongside ensuring the smooth implementation of the ceremony.

"The relocation of the venue does not affect the content and spirit of the 2026 National Day celebration, but is a responsible step to ensure that the event can be held in a more controlled and comfortable environment," stated the announcement. The government also emphasized its commitment to monitoring the haze situation and the development of air quality regularly.

Additionally, the statement highlighted that decisions regarding the implementation of the parade for the 2026 National Day celebration will be made based on an assessment of the current situation, taking into account advice and views from the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Department of Environment, and the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

The public is encouraged to remain informed about the latest haze situation and seek health advice through official MOH channels, as per the statement.
