PM Anwar Urges Swift Action on Flood Mitigation and Poverty Eradication Projects

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed that efforts to ensure the people’s welfare, such as eradicating hardcore poverty and flood mitigation projects, be expedited. He emphasized the need for immediate action to address these pressing issues affecting the nation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar has requested the Treasury to provide flexibility to fast-track these efforts through immediate allocations, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, as well as faster pre-queue processes. He highlighted the need for efficient execution of projects, particularly those involving tender processes, which often face delays.

Anwar pointed out that while tenders are crucial for maintaining transparency and minimizing errors and leakage, the traditional tender processes are too time-consuming. He stressed the urgency of these projects, noting that those affected by the floods cannot afford to wait for prolonged procedures. Anwar made these remarks during a meeting with the staff of the Prime Minister’s Department.
