Sabah: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described the steadfastness, courage and readiness of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in defending every inch of the country's waters from any threat as a symbol of immense sacrifice. In a Facebook post, he said the sacrifices of the troops serving in the country's border areas are the main bulwark that ensures the people of this country continue to live in peace and tranquility.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar continued his working visit by traveling to Pulau Banggi, Sabah, after attending the ASEAN Summit in the Philippines. He visited Pos Dogoton to review the level of readiness at the Malaysia-Philippines border. Pos Dogoton plays a crucial role as a forward security post bordering Philippine waters, vital in maintaining the sovereignty and security of the country's waters in northern Sabah. The post is instrumental in controlling threats such as invasions, smuggling, and cross-border criminal activities.
Anwar was briefed on the operations at the post and inspected the surrounding archipelago and radar operations, which are essential for monitoring security in the area. He emphasized the mental endurance, discipline, and fighting spirit required from those assigned to such remote areas with challenging terrain and weather conditions. Anwar expressed his highest appreciation to the MAF team at Pos Dogoton for their role in safeguarding the homeland's sovereignty.
Anwar, accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, arrived in Sabah the previous night for the working visit.
