Melaka: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's commitment to supporting media practitioners was highlighted through his donation of a sacrificial cow for the Aidiladha celebration under the Majlis Qurban Media 2.0 2026 programme.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Melaka Media Practitioners Club (PENDIKA) chairman Amir Mamat emphasized the significance of the contribution, particularly in assisting media practitioners from the B40 group in the state. This initiative allowed them to partake in the korban (sacrificial) ritual and share blessings with their families and communities. Mamat expressed gratitude for the prime minister's support, highlighting the impact of this contribution on practitioners facing increasing living costs.
The effort enabled seven media practitioners in Melaka to perform the korban ritual, thus fulfilling a religious practice while also fostering community bonding. Mamat also acknowledged the role of Gabungan Kelab Media Malaysia (GKMM) in coordinating the sacrificial animal's donation.
In addition to the prime minister's contribution, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) provided another sacrificial cow as part of its corporate social responsibility, further supporting the media community. Mamat noted that contributions from both parties ensure that the welfare of media practitioners is prioritized, particularly in accessing religious and community programs.
PENDIKA believes that the spirit of togetherness and sharing manifested through the korban ritual can enhance community ties and instill values that support national unity. Meanwhile, GKMM reported that the programme was successfully organized with the Media and Strategic Communications Division of the Prime Minister's Office, extending across six states including Putrajaya, Johor, Kedah, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Pahang.
GKMM expressed appreciation for the prime minister's contribution and the collaborative efforts that ensured the programme's success. The programme not only enriched the Aidiladha celebration for media practitioners and their communities but also inspired public contributions to those in need, strengthening societal bonds.
