PM Anwar Commends HSIS Heart Centre Team For Excellence In Cardiac Care

Putrajaya: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today congratulated the staff of Sultan Idris Shah Hospital (HSIS), particularly the Heart Centre team, for their outstanding achievements in delivering high-quality healthcare services to the public.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a Facebook post, Anwar highlighted the hospital's capacity to manage approximately 60 heart patients daily, including critical cases. This capability is a testament to the world-class expertise, efficiency, and high level of preparedness among the country's healthcare personnel. Anwar expressed his appreciation for the team's commitment to valuing every life and the dedication of the Cardiology Department in ensuring patients receive the best treatment during critical moments.

The Prime Minister thanked all doctors, nurses, and staff for their service and sacrifices and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence. Sultan Idris Shah Hospital, previously known as Hospital Serdang, was officially rebranded as HSIS on May 8, 2023.

Yesterday, HSIS announced that its Heart Centre's achievements align with its recognition as a Centre of Excellence (COE) for Cardiology by the Ministry of Health. This recognition underscores the centre's strong capacity and exceptional capabilities in delivering high-impact cardiac treatment to patients.

As one of the country's high-performance cardiac treatment centres, HSIS continues to record significant figures. In 2025, the centre conducted 9,483 cardiac angiogram procedures and 6,486 Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) procedures, highlighting the high workload and patient confidence in the services provided.

HSIS's cardiology services operate continuously, managing elective cases from Monday to Friday and emergency cases, particularly acute heart attacks, 24 hours a day. This ensures that patients receive critical treatment regardless of the time.

The intensive operations at HSIS involve 80 healthcare personnel, including 15 cardiologists, six medical officers, 11 radiographers, eight assistant medical officers, and 40 nurses and healthcare assistants, all working collaboratively to ensure smooth procedures.
