Gombak: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) must give serious attention to efforts to strengthen cohesion and reinforce its youth wing, Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK), to ensure the party's continuity in the future. PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari emphasized the importance of this strategy at the 2026 Gombak Division Annual General Meeting, highlighting it as one of the three key motions discussed during the meeting, which will be presented to the central leadership.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin highlighted that the objective of strengthening the youth wing would be implemented continuously. This effort is part of a broader strategy to ensure the party remains robust and relevant in the coming years. He also noted the significant role the youth wing plays in the party's long-term goals.
Another motion that received attention was the push for increased women's participation in PKR's leadership structure. Currently, women's participation is approximately 23 to 24 percent. Amirudin mentioned that while there has been progress in this area, the party aims to achieve a 30 percent target, demonstrating a commitment to gender inclusion within its ranks.
The third motion addressed was the importance of tackling cases of sexual abuse in care homes. Amirudin explained that this issue would be addressed through the Care Economy Policy introduced last year. This policy underscores PKR's commitment to not only focus on internal matters but also to engage with pressing public welfare issues.
Amirudin, who also serves as Selangor Menteri Besar, described these motions as crucial. They reflect PKR's dedication to addressing both party-specific and broader societal challenges, ensuring the party remains responsive to the needs of its members and the public.
