PKR Vice President Nik Nazmi Advocates for Strong Leadership to Gain More Parliamentary Seats

Tanjong Chat: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has emphasized the necessity for strong leadership and a realistic strategy to enhance the party’s election machinery and increase its parliamentary seats in the upcoming general election. Nik Nazmi, who also serves as the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, underscored that the party’s growth potential could be unlocked by aligning the right leadership team with PKR’s key figures.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nik Nazmi highlighted the need for the best individuals to bolster PKR’s election efforts. He expressed optimism that if the party can perfect its strategic formula, it could elevate its performance to a new level. These remarks were made during the Jelajah Hidupkan Idealisme Reformasi Dalam Ujian Kuasa (HIRUK) programme for the Kelantan and Terengganu zone, held at the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) Complex in Tanjong Chat.

Nik Nazmi acknowledged the ambitious goals set by some party members of winning 80 to 90 parliamentary seats but stressed the importance of grounding these expectations in reality. He noted that PKR currently holds only 30 seats, with its best historical performance being 47 seats. He advocated for a realistic assessment of the party’s current position and a strategic approach to achieving future targets.

Furthermore, Nik Nazmi pointed out the crucial role of Kelantan in contributing to PKR’s overall seat count. He urged that the state should not be overlooked in the party and Pakatan Harapan’s strategic efforts to increase their parliamentary presence. He noted that the timing is opportune, with growing awareness and momentum in Kelantan, which could aid in surpassing the 50-seat mark.
