Melaka: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) needs to put forward a more compelling narrative to strengthen people's confidence in the party, said Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim. He stated that grassroots strength must also be further strengthened and translated into victories in the next election.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Kamil emphasized that merely being popular is insufficient. Reflecting on the experiences of the Sabah, Johor, and Negeri Sembilan state elections, he observed that the party's grassroots strength has not yet been robust enough to secure electoral victories. He recalled that since 1998, PKR had entered elections riding waves of support, with people becoming part of the party machinery, culminating in forming the government.

In his speech at the 2026 AMK National Congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre in Ayer Keroh today, Muhammad Kamil called for a renewal of the party's approach, strategy, and political activities. He stressed the necessity for the party to be organized, structured, and targeted, considering the different challenges faced when pursuing reform both in and out of government. He urged party members and leaders not to lose heart but to accept the reality that the people had sent a clear signal, urging the party to rise again for their sake.

The congress, which was opened by PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar, was also attended by PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Wanita PKR chief Fadhlina Sidek. During her speech, Fadhlina emphasized that the congress should serve as a platform for self-reflection, acknowledging weaknesses, listening to the grassroots, and formulating an action agenda to strengthen the party. She urged attendees to embrace and refine the leaders' speeches into an action agenda, ultimately aiming to win the next election.

Fadhlina further encouraged the delegates to use this opportunity for self-reflection, to acknowledge weaknesses and shortcomings with full awareness and humility. She asserted that the delegates' debates should serve as recommendations from the grassroots to further strengthen the party.
