PKR Election Results Likely To Be Known On Friday Night

Johor Bahru: The results of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) central leadership council elections could be known as early as Friday night, as stated by party election committee chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa. She indicated that the announcement might coincide with a policy speech by PKR President and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who will officially open the PKR National Congress 2024/2025.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zaliha mentioned that if the results are finalized, they will be announced either during or after the President’s speech. In the event of any delay, the announcement will be made by 2.30 pm on Saturday. These remarks were made during a press briefing on the congress proceedings, attended by PKR secretary-general Dr Fuziah Salleh, information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and JPP deputy chairman Datuk Ahmad Kassim.

Regarding access to preliminary results, Dr Zaliha clarified that only candidates and delegates will have the privilege to view them. She also hoped for stable internet connectivity to ensure a smooth voting process. She noted that while there is no contest for the positions of President and Youth Chief, other posts have active contests.

In another statement, Fuziah Salleh revealed that 150 media personnel have registered to cover this year’s congress. She stated that a total of 9,029 delegates will vote in person, including those from Sabah and Sarawak, while 13,060 delegates will cast their votes online for the Central Leadership Council (MPP) positions.

For the Wanita Leadership Council, 2,129 out of 8,558 delegates will vote physically, and for the Youth (AMK) Leadership Council, 3,375 out of 10,065 delegates will cast their votes in person. Although no formal invitations were issued for observers due to limited space, Fuziah mentioned that the party welcomes their attendance.

The PKR National Congress is set to officially begin tonight at 8 pm with the opening of the Youth (AMK) and Wanita Congresses at Berjaya Waterfront Hotel. The event will be attended by Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim, Wanita chief Fadhlina Sidek, and delegates from both wings. Tomorrow, both wings will conduct their congress sessions starting with policy speeches, followed by debates and closing remarks by their respective secretaries, deputy chiefs, and leaders.

Voting for the election of the MPP, the Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK), and Wanita Leadership Councils is scheduled for tomorrow from 8 am to 5 pm.
