Kuala lumpur: The PKR International Affairs Bureau has unequivocally condemned the military aggression by the United States (US) and Israel against Iran, describing it as a serious violation of international law that threatens regional and global stability.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the bureau’s chairman, Dr. Maszlee Malik, stated that the action constituted an unprovoked act of war that contravened the United Nations (UN) Charter, particularly Article 2(4), which prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity of any state.
Dr. Maszlee emphasized that this dangerous escalation threatens regional and global stability, particularly in an already volatile West Asia. He asserted, “The world needs peace, not more wars. We vehemently reject foreign military intervention and the subjugation of a nation’s right to self-determination.”
He expressed PKR’s solidarity with the people of Iran, asserting that they have the right to determine their own destiny, free from external coercion and violen
ce. The bureau called for the immediate cessation of all hostile military actions against the Islamic Republic and demanded full respect for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in line with the UN Charter.
Dr. Maszlee also urged the US and Israel to cease hostilities and pursue diplomacy and peaceful coexistence. The recent attacks by the US and Israel, labeled by the latter as a “pre-emptive strike against its arch-enemy to eliminate threats,” followed the US’s increased military build-up in the region, aiming to pressure Tehran to scale down its nuclear program amid a brutal crackdown in Iran on widespread protests.
