Kuala lumpur: Parti Keadilan Rakyat's (PKR) Annual Congress has been rescheduled to August 14-16 to prioritize preparations for the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PKR information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced that the decision was made during the party's monthly Political Bureau and Central Leadership Council (MPP) meeting. The congress, which was initially set for June 26-28, will still be conducted at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh, Melaka.
Datuk Fahmi Fadzil highlighted that the postponement will grant PKR Johor and Negeri Sembilan additional time to bolster their readiness for the forthcoming state polls. The strategic move aims to enhance the party's performance in these crucial elections.
In addition to the congress rescheduling, Fahmi Fadzil revealed that the meeting resulted in new appointments within the party. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and PKR Johor chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa have been appointed as vice-presidents. These appointments are intended to fortify the party's organization and operations at the central level, ensuring a robust leadership structure as the party navigates upcoming challenges.
