PJRM Benefits Over One Million Terengganu Residents Through Subsidized Sales

Kuala terengganu: More than one million Terengganu residents have benefited from 1,026 MADANI Rahmah Sales Programmes (PJRM) held across the state from January 1 to December 21.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Terengganu director Mohd Mufsi Lat stated that the programmes involved approximately RM14 million in federal government subsidies aimed at alleviating the cost of living burden. The PJRM was executed through five models: 444 events within premises, 19 in open areas, 536 mobile events, 14 market-based events, and 13 on campuses.

"A total of over RM52 million in sales was recorded from the 1,026 PJRM events held between January 1 and December 21. This year, we still have about 20 more PJRM events to be organised in eight parliamentary constituencies, including within premises, at markets, and through mobile operations," he mentioned at the Back-to-School 2026 Sale and Save Smart with Terengganu KPDN programme at the Noor Arfa Craft Complex (NACC) in Cendering.

Meanwhile, Mohd Mufsi elaborated that over 200 stock keeping units (SKUs), including food items and school supplies, were offered at PJRM at prices between 10 and 30 percent lower than usual. The three-day PJRM, starting today, is organized on a larger scale to help people prepare for the school term while purchasing daily necessities at one location.

"Besides NACC, the Back-to-School and Save Smart PJRM is also being held at 12 other locations across Terengganu. Therefore, KPDN urges all Terengganu residents to take advantage of this opportunity to save and ensure smooth preparations for their children's return to school," he added.

Visitor Khairul Affendi Alwi, 38, shared that he managed to save about RM300 by purchasing school necessities and groceries at the PJRM. As the head of his household, Alwi emphasized the importance of careful financial planning to avoid future financial difficulties.

"My main purpose today was to buy school uniforms and bags for my three children, who are in Year Two, Year Five, and Form Two. At the same time, I bought groceries because the prices of chicken and meat here are very reasonable," he explained, noting that local beef, which usually costs RM35 per kg, is sold at RM20 per kg, while chicken is only RM6 per kg.

Another visitor, Siti Zailawati Abdul Rahim, 47, expressed that she never misses the opportunity to visit PJRM to purchase necessities at lower prices and reduce her daily expenses. She highlighted the benefits of buying fresh items such as fish, meat, and chicken at significantly reduced prices.

"With the rising cost of living, people need to be wise in taking advantage of the initiatives provided by the government to manage their spending," she advised.
