PH Ready To Contest All State Seats In Johor And Negeri Sembilan If Challenged By BN – Anwar

Johor: Pakatan Harapan (PH) is prepared to field candidates in every State Legislative Assembly constituency in Johor and Negeri Sembilan if UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) decide to contest all seats in the forthcoming state elections. PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his lack of surprise at this development and emphasized that the coalition would respond decisively to any attempts to disrupt the Unity Government's cohesion.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar, who also serves as the Prime Minister, made these remarks while addressing attendees at the PH 2026 Convention held at Persada Johor International Convention Centre. He highlighted PH's readiness to contest all constituencies in Johor and Negeri Sembilan and emphasized the coalition's vigilance in monitoring the situation closely.

Furthermore, Anwar hinted at the potential for an early 16th general election (GE16) if the ongoing tensions among parties within the government continue to escalate, threatening political stability. He questioned whether a nationwide general election might be necessary if relations within the government continue to fragment, suggesting that any decision would be made collaboratively.

Despite the current harmonious relationship among the Unity Government's central leadership, Anwar indicated his intention to convene with PH's top leadership soon to assess the readiness of their political machinery for any potential developments. He also emphasized that negotiations remain possible if all parties prioritize national stability over narrow political interests.

This announcement follows the statement by Johor Menteri Besar and state BN chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, who declared BN's intention to contest all state assembly seats in the upcoming election, which is expected to occur soon.
