Kuala lumpur: Several Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders accompanied the coalition's candidates as they submitted their nomination papers today for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, in Jelebu, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke filed his nomination papers for the Chennah state seat after arriving at the nomination centre at Dewan Besar Kuala Klawang at 8.30 am. The Minister of Transport was accompanied by DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo, DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng, and Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
In Jempol, Deputy Communications Minister and Wanita DAP chief Teo Nie Ching accompanied PH candidate Teo Kok Seong as he filed his nomination papers for the Bahau state seat. She arrived at the nomination centre at the Jempol District and Land Office main hall around 8.30 am. Also present was PH communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, who arrived at 8.55 am. The Minister of Communications was there to accompany four PH candidates contesting the Serting, Palong, Jeram Padang, and Bahau state seats. Teo, PH's candidate for the Bahau seat, is the incumbent for the constituency from the 14th General Election, while the other three candidates are newcomers: Yaacob Mahmood (Serting), Muhammad Zahin Zinal Abidin (Palong), and Manivanan Gowin (Jeram Padang).
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun arrived at the nomination centre at the Port Dickson District Administration Complex Auditorium around 8.30 am. The Negeri Sembilan PH chairman, who will contest the Linggi state seat, was accompanied by DAP deputy secretary-general Hannah Yeoh, PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, and the Prime Minister's political secretary Datuk Farhan Fauzi. Other arrivals included Chuah incumbent Yew Boon Lye, Lukut incumbent Choo Ken Hwa, and Dr G Rajassekaran, who will defend Sri Tanjung.
Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim arrived at the nomination centre at Wisma Majlis Bandaraya Seremban (MBS) at 8.30 am to accompany six PH candidates for the polls. Among those present were Selangor State Legislative Assembly Speaker Lau Weng San, Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, and PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.
The Election Commission has set August 1 as the polling date for the Negeri Sembilan state polls, with early voting on July 28. The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on June 5 after receiving the consent of Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. PH won 17 of the 36 seats in the 15th state election in 2023, with BN taking 14 and PN five.
