N9 Polls: DAP Treasurer In Four-cornered Clash To Defend Rahang Seat

Kuala lumpur: Negeri Sembilan DAP treasurer Siaw Meow Keong will face a four-cornered contest for the Rahang seat in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election. Siaw, who has held the seat since 2023, has been fielded by Pakatan Harapan (PH) to defend the constituency.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Siaw will contend against Rasah MCA Wanita chief Yap Siok Moy of Barisan Nasional (BN), S. Thinagaran of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), and Tang Jay San of Bersatu. Returning officer Mohamad Najib Mustafa announced the list of eligible candidates at the Seremban City Council Hall after the one-hour nomination process concluded at 10 am. Siaw was the third candidate to file his nomination papers at 9.12 am, following Thinagaran at 9.06 am and Tang at 9.10 am. Yap submitted her nomination at 9.13 am.

In Bukit Kepayang, Negeri Sembilan DAP Wanita chief Nicole Tan Lee Koon, who is defending the seat, will engage in a straightforward contest against Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Lee Boon Shian. The state election will also have three-cornered battles in the Labu, Mambau, and Seremban Jaya districts.

In Labu, PH's Datuk Ahmad Faez Abdul Razak will face Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker of Bersatu and Siti Nur Umaira Hasim of BN. In Mambau, PH's Lee Kai Yet will compete against Bersatu's N. Sarawanan and PN candidate Eric Michael. Meanwhile, in Seremban Jaya, PH candidate S. Mugunthan will challenge Datuk T. R. Thinalan of BN and R. Mahendran of Bersatu in a three-way contest.

The Election Commission (EC) has designated July 28 for early voting, with August 1 set as the polling day for the Negeri Sembilan state election.
