Kuala Lumpur: Following the Memorandum of Understanding signed in December 2024, PETRONAS has entered into a Joint Venture Framework Agreement (JVFA) with Eni, to advance detailed discussions and assessments towards establishing a regional upstream joint venture company. The agreement aims to consolidate and manage selected upstream interests in Malaysia and Indonesia.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the JVFA reflects the shared commitment of both companies to enhance their regional presence. This collaboration is expected to leverage the strengths of PETRONAS and Eni, focusing on strategic asset management and operational synergies in the Southeast Asian region. The joint venture is anticipated to bring about efficient resource management and potentially lead to increased production capabilities in the areas of interest.
The proposed joint venture aligns with both companies’ strategies to optimize their asset portfolios and explore opportunities for growth. As discussions progress, the focus will be on identifying and finalizing the assets to be included under the joint venture, ensuring a mutually beneficial partnership for PETRONAS and Eni in the dynamic energy market of Southeast Asia.
