Inanam: Incumbent Inanam assemblyman Datuk Peto Galim has expressed his confidence that Pakatan Harapan (PH) can double its achievements if granted a new mandate in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election. Peto, who is currently engaged in a 13-cornered contest, acknowledged that several development initiatives remain unimplemented during his tenure. However, he remains optimistic that these projects can be realized with the ongoing cooperation between the state and federal governments under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Peto addressed the criticisms regarding the pace of development, admitting that some have pointed out the inadequacies in delivery due to time constraints. He emphasized his confidence that with a renewed mandate for the next five years, PH could achieve twice as much as it has accomplished so far. He highlighted the importance of collaboration with the federal government, which he believes is a key strength that will enable them
to fulfill their promises to the people, particularly the voters of Inanam.
During the Ziarah Tunai Janji programme at Kampung Dambai, Inanam, Peto, alongside PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar, visited five units of the Rumah Mesra Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ). These units were rapidly completed in about a month and a half to assist families who lost their homes in a fire earlier this year. Peto emphasized the government’s commitment to providing urgent housing solutions without considering the economic backgrounds of the affected families, focusing instead on their immediate need for a comfortable place to live.
Peto also announced the official gazettement of the Kionsom village area in Inanam as a Kadazan-Dusun, Murut, and Rungus (KDMR) ethnic village. This initiative aims to preserve the heritage of these indigenous communities, marking a significant milestone for the KDMR communities who have long awaited such recognition. He noted that 22 villages in the N18 Inanam constituency have been successfully gaz
etted, demonstrating the commitment to cultural preservation and community support.
Throughout his tenure, Peto has focused on delivering tangible results rather than seeking popularity through social media or confrontational speeches. His approach underscores a commitment to fulfilling promises and engaging meaningfully with the people of Inanam.
