Kuala lumpur: Barisan Nasional (BN) is set to engage in discussions with the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) leadership after the conclusion of the 17th Sabah State Election, announced BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. The talks aim to address any confusion or misunderstanding concerning MIC’s position within the BN coalition.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad expressed his intent to personally meet with the MIC leadership to resolve any existing issues. This announcement was made following his engagement with the BN machinery at the Binsulok District Voting Centre (PDM) in the Membakut state constituency. Mohamad emphasized the significance of the historical relationship between MIC, UMNO, and MCA, highlighting their collective journey towards Malaysia’s independence.
Mohamad underscored the importance of maintaining the long-standing friendship and political cooperation between the parties, despite any differences in opinion. He asserted that any misunderstandings should be addressed through dialogue to prevent the dissolution of their historical alliance.
The situation arose after the delegates at the 79th MIC annual general meeting (AGM) unanimously supported a resolution to exit BN. However, they have entrusted the MIC president and the Central Working Committee (CWC) with the authority to determine the party’s future direction.
