Penang: Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (Pernas) will introduce Bizfrancais at the Penang International Halal Expo (PIHEX) 2026 as a strategic platform to expand halal and shariah-compliant franchise business opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative aligns with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living's (KPDN) agenda to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises, while strengthening the country's franchise ecosystem as a driver of the halal economy. The event, scheduled for July 24-26 at the Seberang Perai Polytechnic, will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The expo serves as a platform that gathers halal industry players, entrepreneurs, and investors to explore opportunities for collaboration and business expansion through the franchise model. Through Bizfrancais, Pernas will showcase 25 entrepreneurs, including local franchisors and those who have completed or are undergoing franchise development and training programs under Pernas' guidance.
Participating brands include Bubble Laundrette, D'Sara Fried Chicken, AZ Motorsport, Glocal Travel and Tours, Penawar Klinik dan Dewan Bersalin Muslimah Sdn Bhd, Asia Aquatec, Mat Saleh Barber, and Malaya Revolutions Sdn Bhd, along with other high-potential local brands. Currently, the Northern Zone hosts 338 local franchise entrepreneurs, with 127 based in Penang.
Beyond food and beverages, the franchise industry now spans various sectors, including education, services, healthcare, tourism, and beauty and cosmetics. Throughout PIHEX 2026, Pernas will provide free business consultation services, information on franchise development programs, business advisory services, and financing facilities tailored for Bumiputera franchise entrepreneurs.
