Arau: The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, has called on mosque and surau committees throughout the state to manage their responsibilities with trust and integrity, particularly concerning administrative matters, while adopting a systematic work culture.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra emphasized the necessity for all officers and committee members of mosques and suraus in Perlis to comprehend and follow the guidelines established by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) and the Perlis Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAIPs). The aim is to ensure that community affairs are conducted efficiently and systematically, aligning with both Islamic law and state laws.
The Raja Muda articulated this during the inauguration of the 2026 Perlis State Mosque and Surau Officers and Committees Multaqa Programme at Dewan 2020. The event underscored three pivotal issues vital to the Muslim community: the Guidelines for the Management of Muslim Cemeteries in Perlis, Guidelines for the Mosque Management Division, and Procedures for Managing Marriages and the Role of Jurunikah in Perlis.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra expressed his hope that the multaqa would serve as a platform to enhance the governance of mosque and surau institutions across the state, promoting management that is professional, transparent, and integrity-focused, while being responsive to the community's current needs. He highlighted the evolving expectations of the community for mosques to function not only as places of worship but as institutions managed with professionalism and transparency.
Additionally, the Raja Muda described the multaqa as an essential official platform for directly communicating the religious administration's policies, guidelines, and direction to those involved in managing mosque and surau institutions in Perlis. He also welcomed the inclusion of surau committees in this year's multaqa, acknowledging the complementary roles played by both mosques and suraus in fulfilling the community's religious needs.
In conclusion, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra expressed confidence that with comprehensive coordination, state policies and regulations would be clearly understood and consistently implemented throughout Perlis.
